A Note From Our Teacher

Greetings!

I'm Caroline Aylward, the teacher for the Broadview 3-5s. I wanted to take a little time and introduce myself and Broadview Co-operative Preschool.

I am the mother of two wonderful, spirited children. Both of them attended co-op preschool, in fact I have completed six consecutive years, from 2000-2006, as a co-op parent. I found it to be a great opportunity to meet other parents and make long term friendships as we shared common experiences. Co-op preschool broadened the sense of community.

My family had such wonderful, positive experiences at preschool. I wanted to share the adventure with others! I have been a Pre 3s teacher since 2003, and was delighted to also become the teacher of the Broadview 3-5s in 2006.

As well as my experience with the North Seattle Coop Preschools, I have also been a teacher of a Multi Age class at an independent co-op preschool and attend Early Childhood Education classes at North Seattle Community College.

At Broadview Cooperative Preschool, we appreciate childhood as a unique, precious and valuable time. The children are going through such an amazing period of growth, of social, cognitive and physical development. Every day brings new discoveries, new milestones are reached and new friends are made! I strive, with the parent assistants, to provide a fun, nurturing, learning environment for some of these discoveries to take place.

Our philosophy is that children learn best through play.

Broadview 3-5s does follow a developmentally appropriate curriculum based on guidelines set by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. (NAEYC)

New themes and skills are introduced each month but there is always time and flexibility to follow the children's interests. Time for fun, time for play and time for learning.
