Teacher

Northwest Toddler Co-op is lucky to have teacher Janice Jacobson. Janice started teaching in the NSCC Co-op Program in 1991, after first starting a preschool program for toddlers with the Seattle Parks Department.

Janice enjoys teaching toddlers and pre-threes because "Everything is new and intriguing to these little people." She appreciates the co-op environment because she considers it very supportive of children and their families. Janice sums up her enthusiasm for teaching as follows:

Preschool is a time for your child to explore, engage and encounter. Preschool allows children to be exposed to new friends, new challenges, new ideas. Between the ages of 1 and 3, children experience many changes and it is exciting to be part of their first learning experiences.

Janice Jacobson graduated from Seattle Pacific University in 1980 with a BA in education (K-12 certification) and a major in Psychology. She taught a K-6 gifted program in the Shoreline School District until she had her first son in 1982. She stayed at home with her two boys and ran an in-home daycare until 1990. Janice and her husband have lived in Ballard for 22 years. They have two boys.
