WELCOME TO NORTH SEATTLE COMMUNITY COLLEGE TODDLER COOPERATIVE SCHOOL!

North Seattle Community College Toddler Coop is a new school which offers a great step into the world of cooperative children's education. Our goal is to create a warm, fun, and engaging environment for your child to learn, grow, and gain confidence. Both parents and children have the opportunity to make new friends, and parents gain the support so important in raising energetic toddlers!

OUR CLASS

Our class meets Wednesday afternoons, from 3:00 to 5:00, in room 1405 of the Instructional Building on the North Seattle Community College campus. The street address is 9600 College Way N. Directions are available at the NSCC Website and transportation options are outlined.

We begin our afternoon with time for outdoor play on the covered patio with play structures, a sandbox, balls, and various mobile toys. We then move inside for some opening songs and snack time. An hour of free play follows in which children can choose from a variety of activities including crafts, a sensory table, imaginative play, books, and experiences with age appropriate toys. The day closes with a circle time of songs, movement, rhymes, story telling, and rhythmic instruments, and of course goodbyes until next time.

THE PARENT ROLE

Parents play an integral role during each preschool session and work together to create a safe dynamic environment for the children to explore. In addition to working at a station during free play every other week, basic parent duties include periodically providing snack and helping with cleanup. Parents also attend parent education sessions during school time in addition to assuming a board or committee position for the year.

We also have mandatory monthly parent education meetings, held in the evening from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

OUR TEACHER

North Seattle Toddlers is delighted to have Diane Broderick as the children's teacher.

Diane has been teaching through the North Seattle co-op system since 1990, and earned her degree in early childhood education at NSCC as well. Both of Diane's children have been involved in co-op school from infancy to the eighth grade, so she's experienced the benefit of parents and kids learning together first-hand.

Diane's warm nature and energy make an instant connection with the children who look forward to seeing "Teacher Diane" every week.
