Olympic Toddler Preschool is a fun, safe, and stimulating environment for your child to learn, grow and gain self confidence. You will both have a great opportunity to make new friends and as a parent you will find support for the everyday challenges that toddlers provide.
Our class meets Monday mornings, from 9:30 to 11:30, in room 1405 of the Instructional Building, on the North Seattle Community College campus.
We start our mornings playing outside in the fenced playground or on the covered patio with structures, fun toys and a sandbox. We follow the gross motor activity with circle time where we greet our friends, sing songs, listen to stories, dance and play with musical instruments. Then it is time for a healthy snack followed by free play! During this time, children choose from a variety of activities, including puzzles, arts and crafts, sensory table, playhouse, reading and playing with a wide variety of age appropriate toys. We close the day with our goodbye song and a hand stamp on our way out the door.
Alysa Reid has a Master’s Degree and background in School Counseling. She attended a cooperative preschool for the first time last year with her three-year-old daughter, Juliette. They are now participating in a pre-3s program. Being new to the area, she found that co-op was a wonderful way for her family to connect with other parents and children and to feel a part of a community while learning and playing with others. She’s excited to have the opportunity to work more closely with co-op parents and children this year as the new Olympic Toddlers teacher.
Alysa finds the changes in toddlers between 12 and 24 months fascinating, as children master walking, develop language and become increasingly social. It’s a joy for her to watch babies turn into kids and make new discoveries daily, whether it’s exploring a crack in the sidewalk or learning how to jump.
