Our program is play-based and child directed. We believe that children learn and grow cognitively, socially, emotionally, and physically when they play in an environment that is both stimulating and nurturing.  We provide the children with open-ended activities in the art area, block area, dramatic play area, table toy area, sensory table area, and discovery/science area. Children also participate in a music circle, outdoor play and snack time. There are parents working in all the play areas so that they can provide support and guidance when needed.

Our Teacher - Marianne Marshall

Our teacher, Marianne Marshall has a B.A. in Child Development, an elementary school credential, and an early childhood development credential. Marianne first taught at the Center for Early Education in southern California for four years. She has over 34 years of teaching experience in cooperative preschools in Seattle, primarily at Victory Heights. Marianne also participated as a coop parent for five years. Marianne believes that children should learn through play, so that the learning is joyful and meaningful. The children practice social skills such as negotiation and problem solving, leading to the development of empathy and kindness. The emphasis in the play areas is on discovery and creativity.

Babes-in-arms Policy

This Co-op Board has chosen to adopt a policy allowing infants in this Pre-3 class. The class will follow the guidelines from the Risk Management Manual so that insurance covers the children. Details can be found in our Parent Handbook.
