Wallingford

Welcome to Wallingford 3 to 5s AM

Preschool meets from 9:15 - 11:45AM on Tuesday, Thursday, & Friday. Children must be 3 years old by August 31 of that year to participate. Our developmentally appropriate program includes construction, imagination, art, discovery, cooking, snack, drawing, writing, large and small motor skills, early math and literacy foundations and vocabulary development. Learning problem solving skills is an important part of our program.

The classroom is equipped with materials that encourage imagination and socialization---including unit blocks, books, manipulatives, paint, collage, dramatic play, sensory experiences and classroom pets. Our program also features creative dance classes with a movement specialist twice a month.

Our Teacher - Kris Dickenson

Our preschool teacher, Kris Dickenson, holds a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Bank Street College of Education in New York City and a Washington State Elementary School teaching certificate. Kris spent three years in the NSCC Coop system as a parent. She and her husband have two boys in Seattle Public Schools.

Since Fall 2005, Kris has been using a developmentally appropriate, child-centered curriculum where each child is viewed as an individual who learns and grows in their own way and in their own time. She believes that play is the essential work of children and an important part of developing cognitive, emotional, and problem-solving skills.
