Special Classes for 2014-2015
1. Online FAM 180 Class
Special Topics in Parent Education is relevant to those with children in their lives. Parents, teachers, caregivers, early childhood providers & others seeking to share, discuss, and learn with each other about topics relating to child growth and development. Different topics covered quarterly in this 5 credit class taught by North Instructors Mara Mulcahy and Shanti Connors. 2. Family University
North's Parent Education Program is excited to continue this partnership with Seattle Public Schools. This class is designed for parents with children of any age in the Seattle Public School system, with a goal of increasing their knowledge and skills in working with both their children and their children's schools to produce healthy, well-educated and college-ready children. 3. Dealing with Disappointment
Local parenting book author and North Instructor, Elizabeth Crary, is teaching this class to help parents learn ways to avoid emotional meltdowns as children develop strategies to cope with their feelings. This class helps parents improve their knowledge and skills with specific tools, including calming strategies for families with children from 1-8 years old. This 2 credit class meets on-campus on Wednesday evenings, 2/11-3/18; course number 6469. Contact the HHS Division Office for additional information at 206-934-6029.
Reclaiming Your Relationship
Winter Quarter PAC Lecture
Reclaiming your relationship is free and open to the public. Beth Goss, Certified Gottman Educator and Training Specialist for the Bringing Baby Home program will present strategies for strengthening the parental partner relationship on February 9th from 7-8:30pm at Faith Lutheran Church Social Hall, 8208 18th Ave NE. Register Online for Parent Ed Classes
Parent Education Students are expected to register online. The Parent Ed Program operates on the Seattle Public School schedule rather than the NSCC Quarterly Schedule.
